Triumph Bikes

Thursday, 14 February 2008

Triumph bikes of Coventry, England started life in 1883 by a German named Siegfried Bettmann. The company changed hands a few times until BSA bought it in nineteen fifty one and two years later Triumph bikes got some priceless PA .Marlon Brando's vehicle of choice in the blockbuster The Wild One was a Triumph Thunderbird T Six. Post war and most Triumph bikes were being shipped to the states as the company tried in vain to recover debts after the devastation on the war. The Thunderbird was specifically designed for the American market who demanded a bike that was suitable for touring; a larger engine was introduced making longer distances easier to cover. It was this engine along with a twin carb head that held the land speed record from 1955 to 1970.

The Japanese we making quality motorcycles by the nineteen sixties but the engines were smaller than anything BSA Triumph were making so the company were not worried until Honda came up with a larger engine. Triumph hold out and in eighty three it was over.

At Classic Bikes we have numerous BSA and Triumph bikes in stock. We have a nice nineteen sixty eight BSA Bantam which runs in a 175 engine. The model is a good and very useable example with lots of history. This mint bike has been road tested and had an MOT and been serviced by Classic Bikes. Before delivery we will also road check and check over once again. The mileage is 29,708. We will shortly be adding more examples of BSA and Triumph bikes but in the mean time if you wish to contact us to discuss a particular model you are interested in feel free to do so.
